The MANTIS DANCE

Behold the Mantis dance... The first part is the dance and the second part is my son woo hoo-ing to the song...Not actually tatting relevant... just cute...

As far as tatting my want have finally lessened... it has actually been like a week since i have actually tatted with a shuttle and 2 days since last needle tatting...I just feel so...blah...so gray. I finally got my bobbin lace book...wow oh wow. I love how it is set up and the author is excellent... sometimes you get authors who don't fully explain stuffs and don't adequately describe things, and just kinda drop you off, expecting that you already know something. She doesn't, she walks you through even the tiniest direction, explains how and why you need to know something and its just a really good book...So...here is the picture of my homemade bobbins...

I like them quite a bit... what you don't see are the full length ones with beads going all the way up the handle...they are so pretty...So...my first attempt at bobbin lace was dismal...(see previous post here) I was about to give up because i thought that it should be more stable... I was right. I got my book and started reading yesterday...And instead of trying to make my own prickings, i copied it right out of the book...(new printer/scanner) and attempted again... the difference is startling... it is very stable! I still have to work on tension. So far i have worked the cloth stitch over a length...and then an easy edging with cloth stitch , then an open work pattern, then half stitch ground... pictures later...I'm going to tell you right now that the open work didn't work for me... but i am going to do that pattern again until it looks like the picture... i think i need to enlarge it a bit...

I am almost done Christmas shopping... I love online! Which is funny because i have a present for almost everyone, except the males of the females in my life...excluding my sons...Any ideas? I thought maybe a shirt...i don't know...
