year end post

Boy has it been a year. I know that most bloggers are going to a year end summery... well i am not most bloggers, am I? So just to touch on a few milestones... good and bad. The good. Both of my boys completely potty trained and talking (took long enough!) and working on my daughter. Um. Learned tatting, gained a great community of people, learned bobbin lace, watched a million and two movies (not really), tried tons and tons of new things, helped a great deal of people, on and offline. The bad, loads of arguments, stress, lost people who i thought were friends, threw away a ton of stuff. Been sicker than i think i ever have in my life...i have been so darn sick this year... as a matter of fact i am, and my whole family is, sick... lucky though that its going away... hopefully it will give me a break, cause this crap is taking so much out of me. OK. I think that is all of that...so yeah, great christmas, hopefully a great new year... See y'all then!

Late Late Sunday

Have a great holiday!
We will be off on the 26th.
We will return to our thieving ways
on January 2, 2011.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
from Bud & Judd

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing. Sunday Stealing originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim's post. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme's best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme. Let's go!

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger named CV Rick from the blog named Ninja Writer. It's 50 questions so we will do it in two parts. He stated that he grabbed it from Wry Catcher. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Sunday Stealing: The Ninja Meme, Part Two

Cheers to all of us thieves!

Watching Sonic the headghog and Bloggin....fun fun

Alright... the rest of my family is coming over right now so i figured i would blog real quick...

Personal: my fam is coming over and i am super duper DUPER excited...we are going to have christmas early with them and then christmas later with just ourselves...Since i know that my sister doesn't read my blog... i got her two tattoo books! her friend Tori got her tattoo filled in and i am getting her tattoo books... can you tell where her heart lies? She is going to love one especially because it goes through the techniques and the Whys and other really cool stuff... also information on how to get INTO tattooing... shes going to love it... Also yesterday I went to a potluck... boy oh boy it was great. everyone who came actually brought something... Halloween it wasn't like that... but it was great. ok. so on Facebook, i got friend requests from my cousin and Aunt...I haven't talked to my aunt in years.. and my cousin even longer... I sent some lace to my aunt.... so unfortunately i dont have that lace to show off... and i wasn't quite on mind to scan it... which brings me to BOBBIN LACE!
Bobbin lace:
most recent project...
they are called SPIDERS...I was telling my sister that my head was exploded during this pattern... and it was... First off it had 13 pair... more than i had ever used... which is pathetic considering i have seen a photo of someone working 500 PAIRS! craziness...So 13 pairs... the spiders itself is really simple... the sides are also something i know... the head exploding thing, was trying to remember how to tie the sides and the spiders together...To be honest i probably won't attempt this pattern again...see lucky for me (my excuse for such a tiny piece) the thread broke and i have no idea how to fix or replace a broken thread...darn ;).

Tatting: Have not done a darn thing... i was making "posy" on the bus but for some reason it looked really crappy... that made me sad...

SO that's about it... really... i mean i could go into how icky i have felt, but it is really boring.

1 week till Christmas... so happy.

Happy Merry Christmas Peoples!!!

Enough with the UCK!

BEHOLD!
My bobbin lace! LACE Y'ALL! Actual lace. I love bobbin lace.
On the left is A "baby heather" pattern out of Lessons in Bobbin Lacemaking. (I totally recommend this book!)In real life it is an off white color and is nice, but twists. On the right is my favorite...on that note i am going to say that the heather edging was my favorite until i made the right side...just sayin'. So the right side pattern is also out of the same book... its called net stitch edging. it is my favorite. its very nice, sturdy, pretty, its done in white and has a bit of a curve to it... If anyone can explain this to me, please do!

Also i discovered a couple more things... One: I like my homemade bobbins better than the ones i bought...Two: I like my non-moving bobbins better than the ones that the beads move...Three: even though i like the non moving ones better, it is MUCH easier winding the bobbins with the moving beads.

Learning something new is so much fun... which is why i need the physical book to do so... I flip back and forth, and use post its... Its so exciting.

On the tatting front, there has been very little... I made some of Mary Koniors "onion skins" edging, while doing laundry the last time...but i don't have a picture. I made three STUMPY's in pink... two of them are going to be earrings...i just have to hide the ends of one...So tragic...i missed the large ring at the end on one, then didn't join the last picot on another and so on the third i tatted EXTREMELY slowly...it came out ok, just really tightly tatted...Hey i should come up with a tatting tongue twister...let's see

ok a little one...Tatting tightly is tough... ok that sucked...

WARNING: sick post...graphic, gross. No tatting

Boy oh Boy! this last week or so has been so hard...WARNING GRAPHIC LANGUAGE BELOW!

For this saga i need to go all the way back to thanksgiving-ish... Anthony worked that Friday, was major sick...had to take the next day off of work (yes it was that damn bad), wound up getting every one in the house sick... luckily it didn't transfer to my sister's family... two days after Anthony was feeling better, Atreyu sat on the toilet and gave us insight on how sick HE was feeling, luckily Anthony was sitting right there... ready to not do ANYTHING... i had to clean up the puke...not fair... so that started upset my stomach, that night he slept on the couch...

Needless to say Anthony had to work this night...He left for work and the kids went to bed... i did the midnight potty and moments later i heard it...Az puking, poor boy running for the toilet...which is beyond me because he had never threw up, there for had no experience... but he ran for the toilet anyway... so here we are at midnight...I now put Az on the couch and there would be no more throw up that night... The next day was a test of everything i am made of... everything. Woke up really ill. All day ill...the waters ill...so there's that, plus me tossing my stomach, and headache... awesome day.. right? Anthony has to work again...I set Az up on the couch again because at the bed time bathroom run, he puked...again...So yeah. Ana said that her tummy was ick, so she was on the floor...Midnight run nothing... 3 AM, Ana got sick. We had no more blankets so i stayed up with her for the rest of the night... 6:30 am i finally get to pass out in bed

Enter the jerkiness... Mind you right now i am severely ill. sleep deprived, smelly... I told Anthony that he needs to step up and let me sleep and get better... three hours later he is complaining that he is tired...at this point with the three hours... i have had a total of 5 hours of sleep over the last 2 days. And he is complaining to ME...Needless to say i laid into him... When i get up he goes off to bed, knowing that there are dishes in the sink, crap on the floor, pukey blankets that need to be washed and kids to be watched, and that i am still sick...There is no love there...none. So sick i have to go do laundry, and cook dinner and make lunch and let the kids play outside...i love being a mom sometimes... not!

But no one has thrown up in days, and i am feeling much better...much better and i am so darn happy about it...

Something else i am happy about is after all that drama and crap... i finally got to do some bobbin lace...I really haven't been in the mood to tat, but at least i know what project i am going to do next :).

A few things that have happened since also is my niece turned 2. She has been on this earth for 2 years and i can't wait to see the rest of them... boy i love that chipmunk...On facebook my cousin DeeAnn and Aunt Diane both friended me. Its so weird you know... i haven't actually talked to my cousin in over, shoot, must be 10 years... and my aunt in almost the same...How can you be family and not know each other... I asked myself this question a few times this last week... Like, i know my sister, but i am still learning brand new things about her...I was trying to buy my grama a present for Christmas and it dawned on me that i don't know anything about her, at all!

Why do we let our friends closer than our family? So while my sister was here we talked, we shared secrets and I am so thankful that my sister isn't just my sister... she is actually a better friend than a sister. i love that. But it's so weird that there are so many things that i don't know about her... Ok... so i am going to head off and watch the rest of Grey's anatomy...Night night

The MANTIS DANCE

Behold the Mantis dance... The first part is the dance and the second part is my son woo hoo-ing to the song...Not actually tatting relevant... just cute...

As far as tatting my want have finally lessened... it has actually been like a week since i have actually tatted with a shuttle and 2 days since last needle tatting...I just feel so...blah...so gray. I finally got my bobbin lace book...wow oh wow. I love how it is set up and the author is excellent... sometimes you get authors who don't fully explain stuffs and don't adequately describe things, and just kinda drop you off, expecting that you already know something. She doesn't, she walks you through even the tiniest direction, explains how and why you need to know something and its just a really good book...So...here is the picture of my homemade bobbins...

I like them quite a bit... what you don't see are the full length ones with beads going all the way up the handle...they are so pretty...So...my first attempt at bobbin lace was dismal...(see previous post here) I was about to give up because i thought that it should be more stable... I was right. I got my book and started reading yesterday...And instead of trying to make my own prickings, i copied it right out of the book...(new printer/scanner) and attempted again... the difference is startling... it is very stable! I still have to work on tension. So far i have worked the cloth stitch over a length...and then an easy edging with cloth stitch , then an open work pattern, then half stitch ground... pictures later...I'm going to tell you right now that the open work didn't work for me... but i am going to do that pattern again until it looks like the picture... i think i need to enlarge it a bit...

I am almost done Christmas shopping... I love online! Which is funny because i have a present for almost everyone, except the males of the females in my life...excluding my sons...Any ideas? I thought maybe a shirt...i don't know...
